Do you market through a forum

I am running two forums, one is general discussion forum and another one is business and investment forum. My forums are small, I get small traffic and I have few users but one day I would like to use my forums as a platform for content marketing and content distribution. However, before I can do that I need to build activities and traffic on my forums.

The highest i have done is post my business on the market section of the forum and that was a pretty long time ago.
