Do you think social media platforms make us less social in real life?

For those who are more extroverted or enjoy being around others, do you think social media makes you less able to have honest, face-to-face conversations? Or do you feel it helps you stay connected and improves your social life?

Everything has it's good side and as well as it's down side. For some persons it has helped them stay connected, while for others it has made them become detached from people around them.
