Definitely. When a couple stays in a separate apartment, they have to pay rent and other utilities for their apartment. There are also other daily necessities which cannot be shared if you do not live together.
It's natural that you will spend more if you are living at a separate place because of your business or job. This way you need to spend on rent and spend extra on food and for cooking essentials.
It is easier and more affordable when couples stay together. Staying apart is just a double expenses.
When couples stay apart, their expenses are running doubly. In fact, they are cooking two pots of food instead of one they would have cooked if they stayed together.

I agree that the couple spends more than staying together. They will pay separately the bills and the food too.

Living in separate houses can be more expensive due to individual expenses such as food, utility bills, and groceries. To save money, it is more advantageous to live under one roof.
There are no two ways about it. When people don't stay together, the expenses tend to go up by double or triple.

Yes staying apart would double expenses as there's no room to share anything. Even communicating is high expenses for couples in different locations
