Streaming services like Netflix, Amazon Prime, and HBO Max are becoming more and more popular, which makes me kind of feel that going to the movies is now reserved for special occasions for most people. Moreover, the cost of watching movies in cinemas is increasing as well. Do you feel the same way?

Streaming services like Netflix, Amazon Prime, and HBO Max are gaining so much popularity that most people now prefer to watch movies at home, leaving movie theaters only for special occasions. Furthermore, rising ticket prices make going to the movies less accessible, further fueling the rise of streaming.

Yes, most people prefer to watch movies at home via streaming apps as it is more practical than going to the cinema. I have not been to the cinema for a very long time because ticket prices are getting more expensive.

To some extent yes, these days people can now stream movies online so they rarely go to the movies. People only go to the movies during special occasions.

I believe this happened after the lockdown caused by the COVID pandemic. During that period, all movie theaters closed for a long time for safety reasons. From then on, people radically changed their lifestyles, including replacing theaters with subscriptions to pay-per-view web services like Netflix and Amazon Prime Video, to name just two.

A while ago I had a not so great experience in a movie theater Involving people who thought they could show up late and move people around to fit their group. Because of that I have no interest in going to a theater where assigned seating isn’t a thing. I don’t want to feel like if some group comes in late I could be guilted into moving or be asked to move.

I imagine theaters as a whole realized people who aren’t stressed about getting a good seat will pay more for the pleasure to do so. They can offer real food and drinks and encourage people to get there early to grab dinner and a movie there.
