The way that companies and organizations kick against their staff joining trade unions, I am forced to ask if it poses any danger and challenge to the organization.

What are the possible challenges that a company would face if their staff joins a trade union?

I have wondered about this too, especially when I see how some companies resist workers joining unions. Often, their fear stems from the changes that could be brought to the management system and internal decision-making.

A company may face challenges such as wage increases, better working conditions, or policy changes. Also, collective bargaining can delay quick decisions, especially during conflicts or strikes.

But unions also bring a balance of justice and accountability. Instead of fear, companies can collaborate constructively. This strengthens workplace relationships and increases productivity in the long run.

A organisation might feel that staff won't be loyal to them more than they are to the professional unions they belong to. And that seems to be true in many instances.
I agree with that argument to some extent. Sometimes, an organization can feel that its employees have more loyalty to their trade unions than to the company itself. I have seen similar situations, especially when employees feel unheard or undervalued at work.

Trade unions play an important role in defending the rights and interests of their members. This builds a lot of trust in them. But if an organization creates an open, responsive, and fair environment, employees can be loyal to both sides without conflict.
