Fito was found hiding in a bunker beneath a luxury home in Manta after a year-long manhunt following his prison escape. He had been serving a 34-year sentence for drug trafficking, murder, and organised crime. Ecuador’s government is now seeking his extradition to the United States, where he faces federal charges in New York, including cocaine distribution and collaboration with Mexico’s Sinaloa cartel.
