Eight passengers burnt to death in a fatal road accident

The Federal Road Safety Corps said eight passengers were burnt to d3ath in a fatal road accident that occurred at Agbede community, along the Benin-Auchi road, Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State. Nigeria


The Edo Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Mr Cyril Mathew, disclosed this in a statement on Monday, March 10, 2025 in Benin City.

Mathew said eyewitness accounts revealed that the accident happened on Sunday, March 9, when a truck descending the Ewu Hill from Benin towards Auchi experienced brake failure and crashed into several vehicles trapped in traffic.

The impact reportedly ignited a fire, engulfing the vehicles and resulting in multiple casualties.

The trucks in that benin roads are just too much, there are cases where you would even see fallen trucks on the road, not to mention the fact that these drivers do not even propel maintain these trucks.
