Employer Reading Your Work Email

Does a company ever have the right to read an employee's emails? Explain your reasoning.

The only time I think they should snoop into emails, is when there is something legally wrong that needs to be fixed or looked into.

If you are talking about personal emails then the company does not have the right to do so, unless a go ahead was given to do so.

I think it's a trespassing act, a violation of a person's personal messages.It's also not logical to give the password to the company head, what for?

Employees should not use their company email for sending and receiving emails, there is a risk that the company email is monitored to prevent leakage of trade secrets.

I don't think it is necessary for an employer to read emails of the employees. It is not something that is ethical.

As far as the mail box is classified as work only , the entrepreneur has the right to read it. And if he finds any personal email there, no wrong on the employer's part.

If it's the employees work email, i don't see a problem with that but employers do not have the right to read an employee's personal email.
