According to the report, the Tigray People’s Liberation Front on Friday accused the government in Addis Ababa of launching drone strikes against the region in northern Ethiopia, in breach of a peace deal.

In a statement, the group, whose forces waged a blood war against the Ethiopian federal army between November 2020 and November 2022, said the strikes caused casualties among members of the Tigray forces and local residents.

The TPLF statement said the strikes were a blatant violation of the peace accord that ended two years of devastating fighting between the two sides, in which an estimated 600,000 people died.

The report also said that on Thursday, the authorities in the northern Afar region, which borders Tigray, claimed that TPLF fighters entered its territory and seized six villages, bombarding civilians with mortars and heavy artillery.

There was no immediate comment from the government when contacted to answer why these bandits were heavily armed. Who supplied them?

This conflict in Ethiopia remains a source of great concern for me. The accusation that the government in Addis Ababa launched drone attacks against Tigray, in violation of the peace agreement, shows how much remains to be resolved. The history of war and violence in that region has caused immense suffering to civilians and combatants alike, and each incident of violence only worsens the situation. The accusation that the TPLF also attacked areas in Afar, with bombings and the capture of villages, reflects the complexity of the conflict and the lack of a lasting solution. It is difficult to trust official statements without a clear investigation, and I wonder who is supplying weapons to the armed groups, as that also fuels the violence. I hope that one day they can sit down and talk and find a peaceful solution, because the current situation only brings more loss of life and destruction.

The war is ow in its widest escalation, Ethiopia provokes Tigray. Retaliation will follow after this. Hoping for an international interference or intervention to avoid another attack from both countries.

After this attack retaliation follows. The two countries should have not violated the peace agreement. Their provocative actions will lead to a new conflict.
It is the same country. The other side are just fighters in the Northern part of the country. It seems the government attacked them because they seem to hijack sovereignty of the country.

Nah, that is crucial if the situation is not solved. There will be an attack to speculate on by the citizens. Hoping the conflicts will be resolved so peace will be restored. It is almost Christmas.
