renowned Macedonian state folk ensemble "Tanec" departed for a two-month tour of the United States and Canada to celebrate its 70th anniversary. The tour, titled "Rhythms of the Balkans," will feature a revamped program of traditional dances and music from all regions of Macedonia. Performances are scheduled in over 20 cities, including New York, Chicago, and Toronto. The tour is also seen as a cultural diplomacy effort, with opening nights attended by diaspora communities and local dignitaries. The ensemble last toured North America a decade ago.
