According to the report, Japan was assessing damage on Tuesday and cautioning people of potential aftershocks after a late-night 7.5 magnitude earthquake caused injuries, light damage, and a small tsunami in Pacific coastal communities.

The report also stated that the Fire and Disaster Management Agency said at least 33 people were injured, one seriously. Most of them were hit by falling objects, public broadcaster NHK reported. The 7.5 magnitude quake struck around 11:15 p.m. in the Pacific Ocean, around 80 kilometers off the coast of Aomori, the northernmost prefecture of Japan’s main Honshu island.

The report also said that the U.S. Geological Survey said it occurred 44 kilometers below the surface. A tsunami of up to 70 centimeters was measured in Kuji port in Iwate prefecture, just south of Aomori, and waves up to 50 centimeters struck other communities in the region, the Japan Meteorological Agency said. NHK reported that the waves damaged some oyster rafts. The agency lifted all tsunami advisories by 6:30 a.m. Tuesday.

This report on the earthquake in Japan worries me greatly, as it shows how dangerous an earthquake of that magnitude can be and how it affects communities. It's impressive that, despite the magnitude, only 33 people were injured, although that doesn't mean it wasn't a very dangerous event. The tsunami warning and the measures taken by the authorities show the seriousness with which they face these situations, but they also remind us how unpredictable nature can be. Personally, I believe that these events should motivate us to always be prepared and to heed the warnings of the authorities. Furthermore, I'm struck by how technology, such as monitoring systems, helps to reduce damage and save lives. However, I also think that we must continue investing in infrastructure and education to be better prepared in the future.

The quake in Japan left a vast damage of its resources and injuring many. 7.5 quake intensity also occurred in Davao City, Philippines months ago. It was so devastating. There were also casualties.
