Forgotten Skills 101: What’s a skill your grandparents or parents had that people don’t really practice anymore?

Hey everyone!

Lately, i have noticed that everyday skills from our parents or even our grandparents are slowly fading away and some of it are now even forgotten. These skills were not just for daily life but also for building small businesses and supporting families. I wonder how many of us still use the skills that our elders taught us.

On my end, my grandmother used to make clothes, using her very old, antique sewing machine, and occasionally she would even sew by hand. Seeing her make various stitches was incredible and she would just imagine the design of the clothes she is going to sew, or her customers provide their own design. It was her way of earning, and we are proud of it. These days, most people simply purchase pre-made clothing, whether online or in-store, and instead of repairing damaged items, they purchase new ones. Even in our neighborhood, it has become difficult to find tailoring shops that still do things the traditional way. She even taught me and my cousins but we really can't do it the way she did those kind of things.

So, How about you ? What is a skill that your parents or grandparents possessed but that people no longer really practice anymore? and was it part of their way of earning money?

I was just a baby when my grand parents passed away. I was 6 years old when my mom passed away. I didn't know what they were doing. My father was a military official and I haven't seen him doing something traditional in nature.

Hunting,I think this is one skull that is no longer prevalent in our society. People no longer see this as a wanted skill

Logical reasoning was a common skill back then, but these days we now have so many people who rely on gadgets.
