According to the news, dozens of protesters gathered in Paris on Sunday evening after initial results from the first round of a parliamentary election showed Marine Le Pen's far-right National Rally (RN) in the lead.

The news added that the protesters set off flares as they marched through the city, passing tear gas canisters and flaming trash cans. Exit polls indicated the RN won around 34% of the vote, a major setback for President Emmanuel Macron, who called the snap election after his party's loss to the RN in European Parliament elections earlier this month. Voter turnout in the election reached 67%, the highest in decades
