Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) is an emerging strategy for adapting content to generative search engines like Google SGE, Gemini, ChatGPT, or Perplexity. Its goal is not only traditional SERP ranking, but also to ensure your content is directly cited in AI-generated answers.

Some of its key features are:

* Clear structure: well-organized content is favored, using lists, tables, headings, and direct answers.
* Use of reliable sources, verifiable data, and statistics as support.
* Semantic optimization: natural language, listening to search intent, covering related topics to provide context.
* Structured metadata and schemas help AI models better interpret content.
Implementing GEO can offset the decline in organic traffic caused by zero-click searches by achieving direct visibility in AI and maintaining brand authority.

What works: questions → a short, citable answer, then context. I did this on 10 pages and the first mentions in Perplexity showed up on topics where we also had linked external reviews. For vendor selection I used this list of Top Generative Engine Optimization Companies as a starting point and asked for samples of pages that already appear in AI Overviews. If they can’t demonstrate citations, I move on to the next.

Sounds like you've got a solid strategy, leveraging citations and AI Overviews to boost visibility, good move!
