German Vice Chancellor Lars Klingbeil's comments about the US and Europe falling apart show a tricky point in their relationship. What stands out to me is that he's pointing out how these old friends are drifting apart politically and economically.
To me, the concerning part is that this split could hurt how well they work together on important stuff like security, trade, and climate change. It's interesting that Germany is trying to make the EU see that it needs to be more independent. It's also strange that, while these tensions aren't new, Klingbeil sounds like things are getting worse.
