The Government of India plans to give pensioners travel allowance every 4 years. I think this just useless as most Indian senior citizens travel very less expect when they are bound to take treatment in some other city or move to stay with their children. It would be better if the government increased the DA( Dearness Allowance)rate according to the rate of inflation so that they wouldn't have to depend on their children financially.

How many of them would actually come to claim this? Or can the money be used for something else? If it can then its fine but if it has to be used for only traveling, then i think this is just a way the government wants to steal money for themselves.

It is well, politicians won't do anything unless they benefit from it. They don't care about the people but just their pockets.

There are many old people like me who can't travel like me but need quite a sum of money for health care. A sustainable pension would be enough for the pensioners.

It's better to add that money to the retirees monthly pension to augment to the high cost of commodities. The travel allowance may not be sufficient for a travel expenses.

Pensioners in India rarely travel. So it's better to increase the pension. This is just a trick to cheat the pensioners.
