It's really something to see authors like Han Kang and Vargas Llosa finding readers all the way in Romania. What I find most interesting about that is what it says about how cultures connect.
I mean, think about it: books are written in one place, often about specific experiences or ideas tied to that place, and then they travel across borders and resonate with people who might live totally different lives. That's the cool thing about literature, it builds bridges between countries and different ways of life. It shrinks the world, in a way.
What really gets me is that these authors, who come from such different backgrounds, can still find a common audience. Readers in Romania are connecting with their stories, ideas, and characters. It makes you wonder what they're finding in those books – what universal human experiences are being reflected back at them.
To my mind, the big takeaway here is that literature helps bring people together rather than divide them. It shows that, despite our differences in language, geography, and culture, we can still share stories and understand each other. It is important for making sure everyone feels welcome and has a chance to be heard. And when all is said and done, reading connects cultures and shows that we're all part of something bigger.
