Having multiple apps that serve the same purpose?

I have seen some people that have multiple apps that serve the same purpose. Someone can have as many as 6 photo editing apps on one smartphone. Why do people have many apps that do the same thing on one device?

For some it's possible there is a particular feature found in each apps that they can't find in one app.

Many apps have some unique features which other apps do not have, so users install multiple apps to utilise or access these features which they may require.

I admit to this. I have many photo editing apps installed on my phone, even though they serve identical purposes. Despite this, I don’t mind having multiple options. Ther are times I find one app more convenient to use than the other.
