Imagine that you own a structured business organisation, and you get to hear reports that two of your top hierarchy staff fought dirty in public and in the glare of junior staff. You know that is a corporate embarrassment and what it does to your business reputation.

What would you do in such a situation? Would you sack the two staff for embarrassing your company?

It depends on how serious the situation might be, if it does not call for me sacking them, I won't go that far, I will only discipline them so others would know that no one is above discipline.

But then again, if they need to be punished that shouldn't be spared so that they know what they did was totally wrong
Yes this would also prevent other staffs, especially the junior ones from learning this and doing it themselves as well.

Yes, that's the truth. you need to punish them so that it deters others from doing same which is wrong

Demotion for both staff is the best thing to do. Senior staff need to lead exemplary conducts for other staff to follow.
