When I make a social media posts that is intended to promote my products, the big aim for me is to make sales. But I have been admonished not make promotional posts to be salesy. How would I make social media promotional posts that are not too salesy?

The key to making social media promotional posts that don’t feel overly salesy is to focus on providing value first. Instead of directly pushing your product, share content that educates, entertains, or solves a problem for your audience. For example, you can create posts that show tips, tutorials, or behind-the-scenes insights related to your product or industry. Storytelling is also effective: share how your product has helped a customer or highlight a real-life scenario where it adds value. Use visuals and captions to inspire or engage rather than just sell. You can subtly include your product at the end or as part of the solution rather than making it the main focus. Encouraging interaction, like asking questions or inviting opinions, can also make posts feel more conversational and less like a hard sell. Over time, this builds trust and makes your audience more likely to buy naturally.

Instead of trying to just make them buy it, just focus on what the product does and why one should have it. People would rush to buy it on their own if it suits their needs.

Sure, you want to sell, but don’t rush into a direct sale. Instead, explain the benefits of your products in simple, engaging language. People like to hear stories, not just ads.

Use great photos, customer testimonials, or questions that stimulate discussion. This builds rapport and builds trust. Trust leads to lasting sales.
