Our spending can be broadly distinguished into two categories, one, necessity and two, wishes. Rent, food, bills are necessity and movies, ice creams, chocolate are Wishes. Interestingly, sometimes things cannot be simply put into wants or Wishes. For instance coffee is my regular spending, I can live without so it is just a Wishes but I need coffee to work creativity so it os also a necessity. How do you do it?

It's also like needs and wants. The things are i need are the things i can't do without. Yes i need food but at the same time i don't really need cakes or other snacks.

Wishes are things or experience that you would like to have. Necessities are the basic things you need to have. To control spending, we should buy things which we need first. If we have spare money, we can give ourselves a treat.

It is okay to have cravings and things you try out once in a while. Once those things become a habit, then it is dangerous. You must avoid things that you can live without, anything that is important to you, go for such. You must learn to draw a line against things that you can confidently live without and focus on the things that you cannot live without.

If you don't pay for necessities, they would affect your life in a negative way. But wishes won't really affect you that much.

According to Maslow, needs consist of several levels, starting from physiological, appreciation to self-actualization, so the difference between needs and desires is very thin, so to distinguish with certainty you have to ask yourself, what are the impacts/consequences if you don't drink coffee,
