The government usually plays some roles in businesses mostly by setting up laws that would affect business owners.
By laying down rules and regulations for conduct of any business and collect taxes from the businesses.
Other than making laws, and collecting taxes, intelligence agencies also claim that they are hiring experts in the field, though they actually hire housewives and other frauds faking online income in the internet sector.
They established their own companies and provide goods and services at a cheaper rate. Give loans to small medium enterprises
The government of my country runs some businesses on its own. And lays down rules for sectors that are 100% private sector driven.
The government in my city does not directly involve in any private business. They set rules and regulations to ensure the businesses are legally run.
