It's the role for the ruling governments to ensure that people run businesses legally and that entrepreneurs do comply to the set rules and regulations as per the business operation act in different nations of the world. So apart from provision of business licences and permits how else do government being involved in businesses?

The role of government extends beyond just issuing licenses and permits. It also ensures a favorable business environment by enacting laws to protect consumers and businesses. It regulates taxes and fees to ensure that corporate revenues are channeled to the development of the country. The government supports small entrepreneurs by providing loans and financing. It ensures the provision of necessary infrastructure, such as roads and electricity, to ensure the smooth operation of businesses. It also provides business training and certification to those interested in entering the market. The government often acts as a mediator to prevent exploitation and protect the rights of all parties.

They normally have grants and the likes they give out to small businesses, but the problem is that most of the corrupt leaders don't allow it reach the hands of the masses.

Some shops complain that they are being fined if they do not comply to the packaging rules, especially plastic bags. They also say that they more fines compared to vendors.
Not fair! Shops are getting squeezed, need clarity on rules and support, not just fines!

Aside from issuing permits, governments regulate businesses through taxation, employment laws, and safety standards. They also enforce environmental rules and protect consumers from unfair practices. Some governments go further by offering incentives, subsidies, or access to funding. This involvement helps balance business growth with public interest and accountability.

Governments shape business landscapes by taxing, setting labor and safety norms, safeguarding the environment, and shielding consumers while sprinkling incentives to nurture growth.

There are several ways the government can be involved in small-scale businesses apart from the provision of business licenses and permits, such as policy makers, facilitators, providing subsidies, providing soft credit or low interest, providing infrastructure, creating partnerships, maintaining economic, political and security stability.
