Bad situations happen in business and to some extent, staff have to be carried along on how things have turned out.

How do you decide the level of truth of a bad situation that staff should know about to avoid panic?
 
Just let them know only the details that would affect their work as staff. Don't induce panic and try to communicate solutions more.
