How to build blogs within forums

Do you have a forum with a blog section? How did you build the blog section, by using blog add on, by creating a category for blog, or a blog on the subdomain or a directory. I built blog by adding wordpress on the directory.

I believe the first step one should take in order to build a blog within a forum is selecting a forum software that supports blog function.
