How to handle a situation where staff salary would be slightly delayed?

There might be unexpected circumstances that might happen and the salary of staff would have to be delayed a little bit. Staff would be expectant of their salary.

How can a business best handle such a situation where staff salary would soon be due but a slight delay of about five days is going to happen?
 
I think in situations like this, the best thing would be to tell your staffs. Even if you do not explain in details why there would be delay, it's best you tell them.
 
The best way is to be honest with the staff. Let them know there will be a delay in salary. Explain the reasons for the delay to them and let them know when they can expect to receive their salary.
That's just the best thing to do. But even at that, the day they should be expecting their salary should not be far off else it would lead to grumbling amongst the staff.
