How to negotiate salary without getting fired

How do you approach asking for a raise without getting fired by bosses
For me, it not easy to do that without getting fired, because bosses of now take employees for granted, they don't appreciate your efforts and if you ask for salary raising they would just fire you and say you are very greedy. Have you had to negotiate salary? What strategies worked.
