The Indian government asked for a thorough report from Tamil Nadu state in response to media accusations that Apple supplier Foxconn was reportedly rejecting married women for iPhone manufacturing jobs.

According to a Reuters investigation, Foxconn barred married women from working at its main India iPhone facility near Chennai because they had more family responsibilities than unmarried women.

According to the federal labor ministry, the law "clearly stipulates that no discrimination is to be made while recruiting men and women workers".

I think this is in response to Indian women, crying out against exploitation.
