INEC Replies Those Kicking Against 2027 Election Dates
Nigeria's Independent national electoral commission via National Commissioner Mohammed Haruna, said its 2027 election schedule, the Presidential and National Assembly on Saturday, February 20, 2027, and Governorship and State Houses of Assembly on Saturday, March 6, 2027 was set in line with the Constitution, the Electoral Act 2022, and INEC’s 2019 Regulations and Guidelines.The Commission acknowledged stakeholders’ concerns about the dates overlapping national holidays and fasting, and said it is consulting with relevant groups and may seek legal changes if necessary while ensuring any adjustments comply with law... It reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and credible conduct of the 2027 general elections, and promised to keep the public informed of further developments.
