Is it worthwhile to build your own home furnishings by hand?

Of course, you shouldn't start making furniture if you don't know how, but if you do know how, is it really worth the time and effort to do it yourself? Since my father made all of the furniture himself when he was a kid to save money, it may have been financially advantageous but it required a lot of labor. He worked nonstop on making the bed for over a week.

It depends on the individual. There some who might know how to do this but might not have the time, then there are others who may have time for this.
