Is technology a barrier to communication?

One of the major purpose of technology is to help make communication a lot easier, over the years there have been various debates if the introduction to technology has actually helped with communication or simply created a barrier, share your thoughts on this.

Technology is never a barrier to communication. It stimulates communication rather. Distances are no more without communication.

Technology connects lives. It does not become a barrier to communication, but rather, a facilitator to reach out to relatives far from us.

In that context, technology impedes physical connections and not communication entirely. It makes it difficult for people to see the need to meet each other physically.
