Back in the days, the business of selling stationery used to boom and was very massive. People that sold books and stationery really prospered.

But it seems the relevance of the business is fizzling out as the days go by. Do you believe that this business would completely lose relevance in few years and no one should start it now? Or would you advice someone to go ahead and start such business as it is?

The people that have been running this line of businesses for years are now seeking how to leave the business because it is not working any longer. Why would another person want to enter the business? Even if it is still working in some locations, it would not sustainably be profitable.

I doubt this business would be out of the market completely, but like you said there have been a decrease in sales. I believe this due to the fact that most of the books and the likes can now be found online. These days most people don't even use books for writing, they would rather use their tablets and the likes for writing.

The business will continue to be very lucrative. Though electronic books have dorminated the academic sphere. But a lot of people still like to own physical book for reference purposes. I still prefer physical books than ebooks.
