Is the Death Penalty an Effective Deterrent for Murderers and Criminals?

Do you believe that the death penalty is an effective deterrent in preventing major crime and murder? Regardless of belief in whether it helps, or doesn't, care to explain?

I believe that if someone deserves the death penalty, that it should be swift enough, that they don't end up wasting away in a prison cell for long years. There have been plenty of people in the U.S. alone, where they were given the verdict of the death penalty, and ended up sitting on death row for upwards of 25-50 years, before the date of when it should be done, was given.

I do not think that anyone who ruined the life of people, should be given such a long wait before the punishment is given to them. Nor do the family should have to wait more than they should, to get justice.

Yes it is a good one. Naturally no body should be killed we all have the right to live so when you kill be ready to die too. So it is a good penalty

In my opinion death penalty is not a punishment for the person who committed the crime, because death is a rest and if it get death penalty then he will rest without any worry, so in order the criminal to make him think what he did is wrong punishments should be more scary.

I prefer firing squad after conviction that a criminal is guilty . Murderers don't deserve to love, they place havoc on human lives and that is their mentality to kill.
