Besides property, land, gold, and silver, several currencies are also considered safe haven assets, such as the Japanese Yen (JPY) and the Swiss Franc (CHF). Some investors also position the US Dollar (USD) as a safe haven asset.

If we look at the history of the USD during World War II, there was a fixed exchange rate where many countries bought USD as foreign exchange reserves, causing the USD's value to soar, and many investors considered USD as a safe haven.

However, many investors and economists doubted the value of the USD as a safe haven. Economist Olivier Blanchard warned that during a crisis, the USD would be highly vulnerable, prompting many investors to sell US Treasuries.

In early April 2025, when US President Trump announced tariffs, the European Union and China immediately responded by proposing higher tariffs. Trump then issued higher tariffs, sparking concerns among some investors that US economic growth would be hampered.
