Is there a chance that one can determine the gender of his child?

Some unconfirmed studies have stated that one can determine the gender of a child by getting the timing for copulation right. They say that copulation close to ovulation would most likely bring a male child and vice versa.

Do you know anyone that has tried this practically and it worked for them?

I don't know how true this is, but there are some people who believe in certain practices that helps determine the sex of the child. Though I have not seen anyone prove it with science .
