Is there any advantage to outsourcing customer service for a business?

Customer service is a very vital aspect of a business. However, I have seen some companies outsource the customer service of their organization to a professional customer service support agency. Is there any advantage of outsourcing customer service?

Ideally, customer service department should be within the company. But probably due to cost reasons, I've also noted a lot of companies outsourcing customer support to a third-party vendor.

I don't think there is any advantage to outsource the customer service of an organization. That's too sensitive.
