Is there any such thing as "ethical manipulation" in business? When is it right to manipulate a customer a little bit?

In general terms, a business person must not use manipulative tendencies on his or her customers. But I am hearing "ethical manipulation in business". Is it even possible that manipulation is a desirable thing in business? At which point can a business person manipulate his or her customers/clients ?

There is a difference between deception and clever persuasion. A businessperson can use beautiful language or an offer to attract a customer without deceiving them. Some call that ethical manipulation. But if you start using tricks or lying, then you are crossing the line. The goal should be to help the customer make a better decision, not to confuse them. Honesty builds long-term business. Customers love the truth.

A business person can use compliments to make a customer feel good and they end up patronizing the business. That's subtle manipulation but not deception.
That is indeed business wisdom. Speaking kind words to a customer is to gently impress him.

But do not do it with hypocrisy. People see cunning from afar.

Carry truth and sincerity in your conversation. The customer will feel valued and return willingly.

He who gives you milk does not stop giving you cows. A satisfied customer brings his colleagues. Do business with integrity and you will continue.

We often encounter subtle manipulations carried out by businesses to influence customers' emotions and thoughts to attract them to a product, such as crossing out a price tag and replacing it with a lower one, or offering a discount even though the price has already been increased.
