Every business that is serious should have staff that they recruit on a well defined contract and they pay. Depending on volunteer staff is suicidal for any business.

Those volunteer staff know how to mess businesses up big time. Their reasons? They don't have any contract with the business.

I agree totally with you. A volunteer at my father's workspace ruined things for my father. He travelled without informing the boss who's my father and switched off his phone. His space was vacant and we lost a client. No paid staff would do such without loosing his job.
I would advice that a volunteer staff should not be given any delegate task to perform as he might disappoint at any given time.
