Ivory Coast’s cocoa industry faces turmoil as global prices plummet, leaving farmers struggling. For me, the most relevant aspect is livelihoods. Personally, I think it’s heartbreaking how small producers suffer. What surprises me is the scale of dependency on cocoa exports. For me, the most important step is diversification. In the end, I believe this crisis highlights the vulnerability of Africa’s agricultural economies to global market shocks.
