In South Korea, kimchi contaminated with norovirus is the cause of food ailments that has affected about one thousand people.

Authorities in Namwon City, located in the southwest of the nation, declared on Friday morning that 996 instances had been verified; but, according to local media accounts, by early Saturday afternoon, that figure had increased to 1,024 cases.

According to authorities, school meals in the city had been used to provide the popular fermented cabbage dish to individuals who were now ill. They said that among the people experiencing nausea, diarrhea, and abdominal aches were employees and students from 24 schools.

The norovirus is very contagious and can be contracted from infected individuals as well as from contaminated surfaces like toilet flush handles.
