According to the report, the Ukrainian military claimed on Jan. 16 to have captured more than two dozen troops in the western Russian region of Kursk. “Ukrainian paratroopers together with adjacent units captured 27 enemy servicemen in the Kursk region,” the Ukrainian military said.
The report said that Kyiv’s forces said the captured troops were from various regions of Russia and also the occupied Crimean peninsula.
Meanwhile, Australia has vowed to take the “strongest possible action” if it is confirmed that Russian forces executed one of its citizens captured in Ukraine.
Canberra said it was “seeking urgent clarification” from Moscow about the condition of Oscar Jenkins after reports of his death circulated earlier this week. The 32-year-old, from Melbourne, was serving with Ukrainian forces when he was captured by Russian troops last year.
The report also stated that a video emerged in December which purportedly showed Jenkins with his hands bound being interrogated by Russian troops visibly shaken.
The report added that Australian media reported on Jan. 15 that Jenkins had probably died in Russian captivity, citing Ukrainian military sources. Anthony Albanese, the Australian prime minister, said that the Russian ambassador had been summoned.
With this situation, Australia may take revenge on what had happened to its citizen. The Russian soldiers forgot that the one they killed was not a Ukranian. There will be the widest escalations of war this year and this year is predicted as the start of the Third World War.
