According to the report, Lebanon's government has pushed to disarm Hezbollah after a year-long war with Israel, paused since the November 2024 ceasefire.
The report said that Prime Minister Nawaf Salam has pledged to implement UN Resolution 1701, which calls for Hezbollah's disarmament and Beirut's full territorial control over Lebanon.
However, Hezbollah remains politically strong. Together with its allies, it holds 62 parliamentary seats and maintains influence in southern Lebanon through extensive social services.
The report added that despite military losses, the group continues to rebuild and has reportedly distributed $400 million in aid since November. Reports suggest that even as Lebanon's institutions struggle, Hezbollah-led bureaucracy is taking charge of the rebuilding effort. Can Lebanon regain control, or is Hezbollah regaining strength?
Iran backed Hezbollah reason why they remain strong . Its allies are determined to support these terrorists financially .
