According to the report, James Ogletree, already serving time for robbery and involuntary manslaughter, has been sentenced to an additional 46 years to life for the murder of a fellow inmate. Ogletree was sentenced for the murder of Marquise Weatherington.

The Prosecutor David Fornshell stated that Ogletree entered Weatherington's cell at the Lebanon Correctional Institution in December 2023, where he beat and strangled him. Weatherington's body was discovered the following morning.

Ogletree's new sentence will run consecutively with his previous one, making him ineligible for release until 2089, but because of his additional sentence for the killing of another inmate, this murderer will spend his whole life in prison.

It really shows how broken the prison system can be. If someone with a violent history still has the opportunity to kill another inmate, something's seriously wrong with how inmates are being monitored. That extra sentence doesn't mean much when the system failed to protect someone who was already serving time
