Not sure, but it's pretty common everywhere. These days, no one wants to marry and then suffer.
In my relatives some people did this, and they are living in their wife's house. Personally I feel that if you marry someone to whom you don't like and did this for money, then it's like you sell yourself.
I think it would be better if we married in a balanced economic situation. If we marry someone who is too rich, then our opinion will never be appreciated or heard. The purpose of marriage is to seek happiness, not wealth.

Marriage is a choice and people have their own definition. Marrying a rich person is not bad though but what if the person you love is not rich? I think both of your should work together and find the riches.
Most of the ladies in my country currently have the tendency to marry men that are well off and flourishing with lovish cars and nice homes.
A relative married her husband mainly because he was rich and her family has become even richer, faking online income, domain ownership though she and her associates do not pay expenses, while I am making great losses since 2010.
I don't fault or judge anyone that marries a rich person for financial security. Poverty can make you fall out of love with a person 100 times. Money is important to sustain love.

Although I am not personally acquainted with anyone affected by this, it happens all over the world. To avoid financial problems, they marry wealthy individuals. They desire to live a better life for themselves and their family members.
A very young actress in my country married a 60 year old man as the 5th wife. People criticized her. She was 20 then. But I don't think there is anyone who wouldn't.
If you give me a choice between a poor man that I love and a rich guy, probably a billionaire, a legit one at that, and I have a little liking for him, I would just marry the billionaire. That's me being real.
