According to the report, more than two hundred food delivery riders in Shanghai staged a protest and even surrounded a police car. People familiar with the situation said it all started when a residential compound in Pudong introduced a new rule. The rule banned delivery riders from riding their e-bikes inside the compound and required all orders to be delivered on foot. On the night of August 10, several riders were stopped by security guards while delivering food.In this standoff, a strange new role appeared—what riders called a “second delivery person.” Since some riders couldn’t enter, they paid residents who could go inside to complete the delivery. Riders stood outside scanning QR codes and passing orders to these temporary helpers.

May the turmoil in China be put to an end. It's crucial if it continues to explode.

Let me start by saying that I am absolutely opposed to any form of violence of any kind! However, since I also worked as a food delivery driver four years ago, even if only for three months, I can say that this job is among the lowest paid (I'm speaking for Italy, but I see it's no better in other countries). Since I used my own vehicle, which was a scooter, I had to pay for fuel, wear and tear, fines and when I ride a two-wheeler vehicle on the road you can understand that I'm always exposed to a dangerous situation! Not to mention other negative factors like having to deliver even when it's raining, or in other adverse conditions, I could perfectly understand that delivery drivers are absolutely right to be angry! But that said, protesting violently is not a solution.
