It has been found that many men are reducing the use of underwear and shorts made of polyester due to fears of reproductive health effects. Instead, they are embracing underwear made of cotton or wool that do not pose a significant health risk.

Published research has shown that polyester fabrics contain chemicals that can affect the quality of men's sperm. Scientists say that tiny, invisible plastics are found in the air, food and water and can cause serious diseases such as cancer and heart problems.

Tight and stretchy underwear has become popular among young men, but health experts say that it reduces the quality of men's sperm and affects fertility. Expert Jaime Knopman explained that plastic underwear that grips the testicles directly affects a man's ability to have children.

Professor Alex Robles of Columbia University added that more research is needed to determine the effects of different fabrics. He said that wearing tight underwear, sitting for long periods or riding a bike increases heat and reduces sperm quality.

Researchers advise men to wear loose-fitting underwear, avoid extreme heat, eat a diet rich in minerals, and quit smoking and excessive alcohol. Some men have even found that not wearing underwear at all improves the quality of their sperm.
