Mexican movies are finally getting some love at film festivals around the world, which is awesome. What I think is really cool is how much they show off Mexican culture. It's inspiring to see these stories connect with people, no matter where they're from.

One thing that always gets me is how many different topics they cover. You see everything from gritty street stories to heartfelt family dramas, and even some wild comedies. There's just such a range, it keeps things interesting.

If you ask me, the one thing that could really help Mexican cinema blow up even more is money. It's hard to make great art when you're strapped for cash. If we could find more ways to support filmmakers here, I think we'd see even more amazing stuff coming out.

I really think Mexican cinema is on the verge of something big. The talent is there, the stories are there, and people are starting to pay attention. It feels like we're heading into a really exciting time for movies made in Mexico.

Think about some recent flicks, for example. Roma swept awards ceremonies. It's not just entertainment; it gives you a window into a different way of life. Then there are documentaries shedding light on issues you might not hear about elsewhere -- corruption, immigration, things that matter.

And it inspires younger generations. When they see successful filmmakers or actors who come from similar backgrounds, it makes their own dreams seem possible. It is like, Hey, if they can do it, why not me? That's important.

The challenge is making sure this continues and grows. It's not enough to have a few hits and then fade away. There is a need to build a system that supports filmmakers at all stages of their careers, from film school to creating their tenth feature. This includes mentorship programs, workshops, and, yes, lots of funding opportunities.

Also, it's not just about making movies for international audiences. It's about making movies that resonate with people in Mexico. Films that reflect our experiences, our struggles, our humor. When we tell our own stories, the world will listen.

The fact that more and more Mexican films are finding distribution deals, playing in theaters around the globe shows momentum. Streaming services also provided a platform. Getting past the big Hollywood productions is not easy.

So yeah, it's a pretty special time. I really hope it lasts and that we see many more generations of Mexican filmmakers get the chance to share their visions with the world. It feels like this could be a defining feature of Mexican cinema; stories that are truly Mexican.
