What I observed and might also be what you observed that most political candidates have a strong connection to big time politicians and wealthy people. You will never win in an election if you lack connection with those big shots. If there's any who files for a candidacy, it's also observed that winning is impossible.

Strong connection and familiarity of the political candidates are inhibited by big shots and the reason is obvious, they will organize or create a conspiracy to keep their mouths shut when corruption begins to initiate. The conspirators ignore the scene for they're also part of it. In that case, the political candidate despite no qualification might win because of money to shut the voters mouths.

Yes these politicians do not play fair, i have experienced it first hand during my service year after graduating. It was a scary encounter.

In the evening before the election day, some political candidates go house to house to do the vote buying. They are paying per voter from $40 - $ 100 depending on the pocket of the politician.
