Of late my android smartphone gets hotter as l continue to browse the internet for long. I have realized this drains of the battery quickly. What could be the possible reason behind that?

My phone doesn't act that way. Better bring it to a technician. That's delicate. It might explode.
I think that your phone is developing some issues on the battery. I hope this can be fixed by replacing the phone's battery.
It could be that the processor and the RAM are overused to the point that they begin to overheat. The best bet is to reduce the number of background running apps on the phone.
Might does that too but not hot more like warm it can be very annoying
Your fingers can warm it to or holding in full hand. Do you use it for hotspot to?

When I use my phone for an extended period of time, particularly in a hot environment, it can become pretty hot. My phone warns me that it's hot, so I stop using it for a few hours.

If your phone gets hotter and your battery drains faster, I think it might be a battery issue.
Some of the apps may be consuming more power and heating the smartphone, so you should only use apps which you really require. Heating reduces the life of the smartphone.
You have probably overused the phone, installing lots of heavy apps on the phone. All these crypto exchange apps overstretch the hardware of the phone and cause it to heat up when used.
Most of the time, when this happens, the battery is the main problem, and the second is storage usage. First, try to free up some space and see if the problem still exists, then try to replace your battery.
I think this is pretty normal. Typically, if you do heavy tasks on your phone like playing games like FIFA, the phone would get hot. Maybe, your internet activity is very heavy and makes the hardware components to overwork.
