NAFDAC states that refrigerating food for more than three days is harmful to health

NAFDAC, The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control has urged Nigerians to stop storing cooked food in the refrigerator for more than three days. The Direcctor General Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, stated this when she spoke at the 2024 World Food Safety Day with the theme: ‘Food Safety: Prepare for the unexpected.’

She said cooked food stored in the refrigerator for days is susceptible to contamination by disease-causing pathogens, key agents of foodborne diseases that can lead to death


She further stated that the World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that globally, one in 10 people fall ill, and 420,000 die each year due to consuming contaminated food.

I don't see any scientific backing of the claim. Though, there is possibility of germs existing at very cool temperatures but i doubt if they will be charmful if the food is microwaved. In this economic crisis, nobody will like to throw away food because Director of NAFDAC have said so.
